Position Summary:

The Department of Psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) invites applications for a tenure-track position in APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY(INDUSTRIAL/ORGANIZATIONAL OR APPLIED SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY) at the Assistant Professor rank to begin August 2020.

The Psychology Department has a doctoral program in Applied Social and Organizational Psychology (ASOP) and a terminal master’s program in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) psychology. Both programs are highly selective, research-intensive, and comprise 6-7 students per year across the two programs combined. We are seeking an outstanding scholar to complement the current faculty, mentor doctoral and master’s students, and contribute to the success and growth of our programs. The area of specialization within applied social or I/O psychology is open, but candidates who complement current faculty expertise and who will create synergistic collaborations within the program and department will be given strongest consideration. Successful candidates will show evidence of potential to a) develop and maintain a productive, coherent, research program that is nationally recognized via high-quality peer-reviewed publications, external funding, and professional presentations; b) satisfactorily teach and mentor diverse graduate and undergraduate students; and c) contribute to and participate in the mission of the programs and department. The candidate would be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the ASOP and I/O curricula (e.g., staffing) and/or research methods and statistics, as well as courses within their area of expertise. Current teaching load for tenured faculty is 2 courses per semester. A reduced pre-tenure teaching load and competitive salary and startup funds are provided.

The Department has 28 full-time faculty, 800 undergraduate majors, and approximately 60 graduate students enrolled in programs in I/O (M.S.), ASOP (Ph.D.), Clinical Psychology (Ph.D.), and Addiction Neuroscience (Ph.D.). Position Title: Assistant to the Chair
Job Summary: Manage the office staff and the general functioning of the Departmental office by coordinating all staff human resources, supporting the chairperson, providing fiscal oversight, and ensuring adherence to Departmental policies/procedures in order to keep the office operating smoothly while pursuing the Departmental mission. Support graduate-level Psychology students throughout their course of study by acting as a resource, ensuring stipends are paid, assisting in paperwork completion and ensuring Purdue and IUPUI standards are met in order to assure successful completion and progress through graduate programs for Psychology students. Support Psychology Department faculty by handling correspondence and record-keeping for potential and current students, acting as liaison with other departments, and securing APA accreditation standards in order to support the graduate program mission within the Department.
Required Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant work experience.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an academic setting.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

This position involves extensive computer use and may require remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time.
